pcmag.comIf you're in the market for a new GPS smartwatch that can handle your high-altitude antics, Garmin might have just the thing: the fenix 5X Plus. Priced from $849.99, it's not cheap, but it's Garmin's first wearable to offer a wrist-based Pulse Oximeter so you can measure your oxygen level at higher altitudes. "With the introduction of the Pulse Ox feature in the fenix 5X Plus, our customers can now have more confidence taking their adventures to even greater heights," Garmin Vice President of Global Consumer Sales Dan Bartel said in a statement. The pricey wearable joins two other new additions to Garmin's popular fenix 5 family of watches: the fenix 5S Plus and fenix 5 Plus, both of which start at $699.99. All three new models feature built-in routable topographical maps, on-device storage for up to 500 songs, and support for contactless payments using Garmin Pay. A routing feature called Trendline uses data from the Garmin Connect app to help you find the best trails and running routes "based on billions of miles logged by previous Garmin users." "Runners can feel more comfortable knowing they're going down a path or trail that has been previously explored by others," Garmin wrote. Besides that, these new models offer the same wrist-based heart rate monitoring and smart connectivity features of the previous fenix 5 models. They're "water-rated to 100 meters" and boast a full-color display with LED backlighting for sunlight readability. Garmin says the fenix 5X Plus will last up to 20 days on a charge in smartwatch mode and 13 hours in GPS and music mode. The fenix 5 Plus offers up to 10 days of juice in smartwatch mode and 8 hours in GPS and music mode while the fenix 5S Plus will last up to 7 days in smartwatch mode and just 4 hours in GPS and music mode. These new models range in size from 42-51mm and are available in two styles: a PVD-coated stainless-steel bezel with a silicone watch band or a titanium bezel with a brushed titanium bracelet.
