If you also use Apple devices, we have some good news. LG on Thursday started rolling out Apple AirPlay 2 and HomeKit support to some of its 2019 TVs with ThinQ AI technology via a firmware update. This means these TVs will now play a lot nicer with Apple devices. With the addition of HomeKit support, you'll be able to use the Home app on your iOS device or Siri voice commands to power your TV on and off, turn the volume up and down, and change the input. To try it out, you'll first need to add your TV to the Home app. From there, you'll also be able to include your TV in custom automations, like having it automatically turn off when you leave the house. LG says it's the first global TV manufacturer to support HomeKit. Meanwhile, AirPlay 2 will let you easily stream content from your iPhone, iPad, or Mac to your TV. That includes movies and TV shows, photos, music, and podcasts. "Users can stream their favorite movies and television shows from the Apple TV app and other video apps as well as view photos directly on their LG AI TVs," LG wrote in a news release. "Users can also play Apple Podcasts, Apple Music, and music from their library or other streaming services through their LG AI TV and other AirPlay 2-compatible speakers in their home at the same time – all in sync." LG said these features will be available on its latest ThinQ AI-enabled OLED, NanoCell, and UHD TVs. The company this week started rolling out the firmware update to OLED and NanoCell sets with plans to deliver it to TVs in more than 140 countries over the coming weeks.
