Nintendo appears to be forcing YouTube to pull down videos that feature music tracks from its popular video games, including Super Mario World and The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. Earlier this week, the YouTube Channel "GilvaSunner" reported receiving 115 copyright complaints for videos that played music tracks from various Nintendo games. "Game over," reads a tweet from GilvaSunner that shows a screenshot of the copyright complaints. YouTube pulled down the affected videos. "115 videos in total blocked so far," GilvaSunner added in another tweet. "They started manually with the most viewed content on the channel, and are now going through the playlists one by one I guess. Looking at the time of the claims, it seems these are coming from Japan HQ." A separate YouTube channel, "BrawlBRSTms3 X," which also hosted Nintendo game music tracks, was terminated this week. That comes several months after the channel decided to remove Nintendo's video game music after repeated copyright infringement claims. "We are removing all videos containing music owned by Nintendo, since they have finally begun to block their content on our channel," the BrawlBRSTms3 X channel said at the time. It isn't clear if Nintendo was involved in the takedown, but a copyright infringement claim on YouTube must be submitted by the copyright owner or an authorized agent. Together, the affected YouTube channels had about 900,000 subscribers. Despite the takedowns, you can still find Nintendo music tracks on other YouTube channels. How long they'll remain up is unclear. Gamers are calling on Nintendo to release its music catalog on platforms such as Spotify and Apple Music.
