pcmag.comConnected TV platform YouView has announced that it’s passed a milestone; it now delivers its blend of digital terrestrial TV and on-demand content to 3 million homes across the UK. Driven mainly be sales from shareholders BT and TalkTalk, whose TV services are powered by the YouView platform, there's also standalone YouView set-top boxes available to buy directly as well as Sony Android TVs running the YouView interface. Richard Halton, CEO at YouView commented: "We are delighted to have passed this important landmark, which reflects the talent of our team and commitment of our shareholders and customers. "Through our cloud-enabled interface, we are offering continuous improvements to the user experience through new functions and content, making it simple and easy for them to watch the content they love. The focus is how we create the viewing experience of tomorrow today – YouView receives 350 million data points a day from its devices and we can use this insight to continue to be at the forefront of innovation in our field." YouView is also one of the three platforms worldwide to work with Amazon on integrating Video Skills on TV platforms. While you can't yet tell your YouView TV set or box to record all of the upcoming episodes of The Simpsons, it's in the pipeline.
