(Acer ConceptD 9 Pro) Although it's been less than a year since Acer introduced its ConceptD range of laptops, the Taiwanese company has already launched a range of upgrades for its creator-focused family of computers. At IFA 2019, Acer announced that its flagship ConceptD 9 Pro—which stands out due to its hinged, 17.3-inch 4K display, similar to that of the Predator Triton 900—now sports an Nvidia Quadro RTX5000 graphics card and 32GB of RAM. It also comes with a Wacom stylus, which magnetically attaches to the top of the device. Acer says the ConceptD 9 Pro is aimed at large animation studios, or people working on artificial intelligence and deep learning who require "power, flexibility and cross-compatibility." The ConceptD 9 Pro starts at $5,799.99 and arrives in November. The ConceptD 7 Pro, which is smaller and has a traditional clamshell design rather than a hinge, also runs that same Nvidia Quadro RTX5000 graphics card alongside a 9th Gen Intel Core i7 processor. This one's aimed at workload-heavy editors, who might be running a range of intensive apps, such as Adobe Premiere Pro and After Effects, simultaneously. It costs $2,699.99 and arrives this month. (Acer ConceptD 5 Pro) Further down the range is the ConceptD 5 Pro (starts at $1,999.99, available in December), which has an Nvidia Quadro RTX 3000 GPU, an Intel Core i7 processor, and will be available with either a 4K 15.6-inch or a 4K 17.3-inch screen; after that is the ConceptD 3 Pro (coming in November at $1,699.99), which includes the Nvidia Quadro T1000 graphics card and the same 9th Gen Intel Core i7 processors; Acer is pitching this one at photographers. The regular ConceptD 5 and ConceptD 3 laptops are also being updated with an RTX 2060 GPU and a GTX 1650 GPU, respectively. The ConceptD 5 will cost $1,799.99 when it launches in December, while the Concept 3 is priced at $999.99 for November. Although Acer has updated its lineup, all of these computers still retain Intel's 9th Gen processors rather than those from the 10th generation, and as such it's possible some customers might want to wait until next year in order to get the boost in onboard graphics that's expected from next-generation chips. Acer also announced new updates to its Swift range: The Swift 5 and Swift 3 now have 10th Gen Intel Core processors and Nvidia GeForce MX250 graphics options, 512GB of SSD storage, up to 16GB of RAM, as well as WiFi 6 compatability. The Swift 5 will be available in November for $899.99; the Swift 3 will be $699.99.
