For some Chromebooks, this is a bigger deal than with others. For example, if you own an Acer Chromebook 11 (C740) it was scheduled to stop receiving updates in June next year, but now it will continue to get them until June 2021. There is one anomaly on the list for a Chromebook you've probably never heard of called the Prowise Chromebook Eduline. It's actually had a lifetime reduction from June 2025 to June 2024. That's still a long way off, but unusual and likely a first. Anyone currently considering purchasing a Chromebook and a long lifespan is an important feature for you, there's good news. Several manufacturers offer Chromebooks with updates guaranteed until 2026. That includes Google's own Pixelbook Go, which will continue to receive security and feature updates until June 2026.
