pcmag.comWhile many other industries have suffered during the COVID-19 pandemic, the video game industry has thrived. Its revenue hit $7 billion during the 2020 holiday season. It's no surprise that everyone is gaming more while in quarantine, which means more hardware and software purchases across the board.According to a survey conducted by GamblersPick.com about gamers upgrading their gaming systems, it also means that more people are buying their first gaming consoles to remain occupied. Among 1,007 respondents, one in five (22.4%) gamers bought their first console this past year. The apparent favorite was the PlayStation line, with nearly 45% of gamers planning to upgrade with the PS5 or PS4 and the PlayStation 5 being far and away the most coveted. The Xbox Series X (17.5%) and Nintendo Switch (9.6%) still made out well. These numbers make sense, since it was PlayStation owners who felt the most pressure to upgrade their system. In the face of the pandemic, the survey showed that 44% of gamers were playing more often in a month than they were before the COVID outbreak. More specifically, Xbox owners reported more play-time than any other console owners.Of course, production of new game consoles has been affected by COVID-related shutdowns around the world, and the use of bots to purchase PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and graphics cards have made upgrading nearly impossible. If you're having trouble tracking down the gaming hardware you need, can offer some help.
