pcmag.comWhatsApp is reportedly working to bring reactions—the emoji-based non-responses already offered by iMessage, Google Message, and other messaging tools—to its platform. The first evidence of WhatsApp planning to introduce message reactions arrived in August, according to WABetaInfo, which reported on Nov. 25 that users will be able to see exactly how other people responded to a particular message using a dedicated "reaction info" pane.WhatsApp's message reactions feature seems to have changed as it's developed. WABetaInfo reported in September that users could send any emoji as a reaction, but now it says WhatsApp will limit reactions to just six emoji: thumbs-up, heart, prayer hands, and three different smileys.WABetaInfo reports that reactions have "been spotted during the development of WhatsApp beta for iOS, but WhatsApp is also working on bringing the same ability on WhatsApp beta for Android as well." (Hopefully the reactions work across both platforms out of the box.)WhatsApp didn't immediately respond to a request for comment. It's worth noting that even though it appears to have been working on message reactions for a while, there's no guarantee the feature will debut any time soon, and it might change quite a bit in the development process.
